Answers
General
Who are the SIAT?
The SIAT is a global professional membership body for accounting technicians, which is sponsored by the Association of International Accountants (AIA) and Education Development International(formerly the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry Examinations Board).
Can
I use designatory letters?
Yes. Associates can use the designation ASIAT, Fellows can use
FSIAT.
What is the difference between SIAT and CAT/AAT?
SIAT has been set up by LCCIEB and AIA, two highly regarded international
bodies, to provide its members with the benefits of their combined specialist
experience in examinations and membership services.
SIAT is therefore able to
offer its members a new international accounting technician qualification based
on LCCIEB examinations, which are well respected by employers worldwide. Additionally
members benefit from professional membership services to support them throughout
their careers and from access to new employment and business opportunities.
The international aspects of the two sponsoring bodies means that SIAT student
members can take the examinations for the SIAT qualification in more than 8,500
centres in countries throughout the world and can pay their fees in local currency.
The SIAT provides an alternative route to qualification and offers a fast track
into the AIA accountancy qualification.
Do
I receive a certificate?
Yes. Certificates are issued at Foundation, Intermediate, Associate
and Fellow level. For Associate and Fellow certificates an application for membership
of the SIAT must be made before a certificate is issued.

in the AIA Foundation Level.
return

How long will it take?
The examinations
are held twice a year (April and November). The four levels for Fellow membership

element of the qualification. Associate membership of SIAT can be completed
in 18 months during which time the 1 year's work experience can be gained.
