SIAT Web Site Terms of Use
1. Introduction
1.1 The following terms govern your use of the web site ("the
Web site") of the Society of International Accounting Technicians ("the Society,"
a limited liability company incorporated in England and limited by guarantee).
1.2 In using or accessing the Web site, you accept these terms, including English
law as the governing law and the courts of England as the exclusive forum for
all disputes relating to the Web site. You may not use or access the Web site
if you do not accept these terms, and your use of the Web site will be construed
as acceptance of these terms.
1.3 If you are outside the United Kingdom, you must be satisfied that you may
lawfully access the Web site under any applicable laws before accessing the
Web site further.
1.4 The Society was established with the aim of providing, within a defined
scope and, subject to regional variations, independent regulation of the accountancy
profession. You should check the extent to which The Society's activities are
relevant to a particular regulatory issue or to a specific country or region.
The Society does not exist to provide advice to members of the public and this
should be borne in mind when using the Web site.
1.5 As a condition of your use of the Web site, you will not use the Web site
for any purpose that is unlawful or prohibited by these terms.
2. Copyright
2.1 The Society or its licensors own the copyright and any other
rights in all material on the Web site. The Society may in its discretion (i)
edit, amend or remove any material on the Web site and (ii) modify or discontinue
all or any part of, or facility provided by, the Web site.
2.2 Subject to these terms, you may download, view, store and print any part
of the Web site intended for public viewing for your own personal use. You may
not use the Web site or any material contained herein for any other purpose.
You may not copy, adapt, republish, transmit or process the Web site or the
contents thereof without The Society's prior written consent. If you download,
store or print any of the contents of the Web site, you must ensure that each
notice which appears on any web page or document is included in the copy or
printout.
2.3 No documents or related graphics on the Web site are to be modified in any
way. Graphics (including logos) are not to be used separately from the accompanying
text.
2.4 You must not reproduce or store any part of the Web site in any other web
site or include it in any public or private electronic retrieval system or service
without the prior permission of The Society in writing.
2.5 Any rights not expressly granted in these terms are reserved.
3. Disclaimer and exclusions of liability
3.1 The Society believes the information which it places on the
Web site to be correct at the time of doing so. The Society accepts no duty
to place information on the Web site, or to update or correct any information
which may be published on the Web site.
3.2 The information contained on the Web site is for general information only.
You should note that the Web site is not intended, nor is it a suitable medium,
to provide guidance relating to individual cases. It may be appropriate for
you or your firm to take suitable professional advice on your particular circumstances,
especially because the application of laws, regulations and regulatory guidance
will vary in particular circumstances and undergo frequent change. You are responsible

3.3 Whilst The Society seeks to provide accurate information on the Web site,
The Society neither makes nor gives representations or warranties, express or
implied, about the Web site (and any information on it or hypertext links),
including as to accuracy, completeness, suitability for purpose, availability,
legibility, speed of download or access, or timeliness.
3.4 The Society shall not be liable for any damages arising directly
or indirectly in contract, tort or otherwise, from the use of or inability to
use the Web site (or any hypertext links to or from the Web site), or any information
contained in the Web site (or any other web site to which hypertext links to
or from the Web site may exist), or from any action or decision taken as a result
of using the Web site or any such information, or for any loss of profits, loss
of business, loss of investment, loss of opportunity, wasted costs or any indirect
or consequential loss arising from the use of the Web site (or any other web
site which is linked to the Web site) or any inability to use or access the
Web site (or any other web site which is linked to the Web site).
3.5 Part of the Web site may contain material submitted to The Society by third
parties. The Society cannot be held responsible for any error, omission or inaccuracy
in such material and reserves the right to omit, suspend or change any material
submitted.
4. Internet use
4.1 The Society does not warrant or offer any assurance that
the Web site is compatible with your computer equipment or the network through
which you access the Web site, that the Web site is free of errors, or that
the use of the Web site will not lead to viruses, "Trojan horses," "worms,"
or similar destructive software accessing your computer equipment. The Society
shall not be liable for any damage which you may suffer as a result of such
errors or viruses. You are responsible for ensuring that your computer equipment
has appropriate security and virus protection features, for your own protection
and to protect The Society's information technology systems and the Web site.
The Web site may become unavailable in part or in whole at any time, for any
period, and without prior notice.
4.2 Given the inherent insecurity of the Internet, the security, authenticity
and confidentiality of any information on the Web site cannot be guaranteed.
5. Communications
5.1 You shall ensure the accuracy and lawfulness of the content
of your e-mails or any other material which you send to The Society. You agree
to indemnify The Society for any losses, costs, expenses or liabilities which
The Society may incur because of your use of the Web site. The Society shall
endeavor to mitigate such losses, costs, expenses and liabilities. The Society
may delete any material posted on or through the Web site in its absolute discretion.
5.2 There is no guarantee that an e-mail to The Society or information submitted
via the Web site will be received by The Society. You may prefer to contact
The Society by alternative means. The Society cannot undertake to answer any
or all communications within any specific timescale.
6. Linking
The inclusion of a link in the Web site to any other web site
does not imply any endorsement of any products, services, information or material
offered or accessible on, or of any person connected with, any such other web
site. The content of such linked web sites is beyond the control of The Society.
The links are provided for information only with no warranty, express or implied,
as to any aspect of those web sites. You proceed entirely at your own risk in
accessing or using any such other web site.
7. Data Protection and Privacy
Any personal data, or other data, which you submit to the Society
electronically may be used and shared by t SOciety with regulatory authorities,
professional standards bodies, firms of accountants, experts, investigators,
witnesses (potential and actual), and others, for purposes connected with the
regulation of the accountancy profession.
8. General
8.1 The Society may from time to time review and amend these
terms. You should therefore review these terms whenever accessing or using the
Web site.
8.2 The Society may at any time alter the contents of the pages on the Web site.
8.3 The invalidity or unenforceability in any jurisdiction of any of these terms
shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any other of these terms.
If any term is invalid or unenforceable, it shall be deemed to be amended to
the minimum extent required to render such term valid or enforceable, such amendment
to be determined by The Society.
8.4 Nothing in these terms restricts or excludes any liability
which The Society may have in respect of personal injury, death, its own fraud,
or any liability which cannot be lawfully excluded under English law.
8.5 The Society may transfer its rights and obligations in respect of any matter
relating to the Web site to a third party. You may not transfer any rights and
obligations which you may have under these terms. The definitions used in these
terms do not apply in any other documents or agreements relating to The Society.
